We made it! The end of 2020 is only a few hours away. Can you believe it? Neither can we! The year that felt like a decade is finally drawing to a close. And what a year it’s been! But let’s take a minute and look back at ‘The year we stayed home’.
Many things happened in these past 12 months, but a lot of things also didn’t happen. Holidays, for example. Or nights out. Or anything that involved people outside your household. But let’s not spend our time dwelling in ‘could haves’ and ‘would haves’ and look at all the things we have done!
2020 was definitely a year full of strange events. One day in March – the 23rd, to be precise – the first lockdown started, and our world was turned upside down. And we made the best of it! We baked banana bread, stockpiled toilet paper, washed our hands while singing “Happy Birthday” twice, and binged Tiger King. We started to wear masks, did every virtual quiz under the sun, stayed 2 metres apart, and got kicked out of the pub at 10pm. We ate out to help out, formed social bubbles to be able to see people outside our household, revived the sims, and bought more hand sanitiser than the law allows. We adapted to the ‘new normal’, found ways to deal with the current situation and new ways to keep in touch with our loved ones. We reinvented the way we work, the way we communicate, and the way we live. And through all of it, we supported each other, stood up for each other, and showed kindness to each other.
So even though the year feels like it was a bad one, it’s had its good sides. Just look at everything we’ve achieved. Whether you learned a new skill, found a new hobby, or even just sorted through your wardrobe. Be proud of yourself. We certainly are!
