Have you considered swapping your date night for a date day? Fancy changing dinner and drinks up for something a little more adventurous? Read on for some fun ideas for active dates!
Hiking
Fasten the laces on those walking boots on and get out into the fresh air! Make the walk as challenging as you fancy – perhaps you just want a gentle stroll, or maybe you fancy taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. For maximum enjoyment, pick a route suited to your current ability/stamina levels so you’re not too out of breath to chat to your date en-route! Hiking is a great idea for a few dates in, but perhaps one to avoid for a first date where you’re still getting to know each other, particularly if you’re walking somewhere remote.
Rock climbing
Take your date to new heights (not even sorry for the pun). If the weather is less than ideal, there are so many indoor rock climbing centres across the UK to pick from. If it’s a sunny day, you might want to get out into the hills! As with all things, safety comes first, so unless you’re a seasoned rock climber, perhaps opt for a guided lesson for two until you get to grips with it.
Ice skating
At this time of year, there are temporary ice rinks popping up all over the country! Why not get yourself down to your local Christmas market and strap on some skates? Remember those gloves in case you slip over! You can both warm your fingers afterwards on a hot chocolate.
Go-Ape
If you haven’t already, why not take to the treetops and Go Ape? This may be perfect for you if you don’t feel confident enough to try rock climbing. You’ll receive a full safety brief from a member of the team before you’re unleashed on the treetop obstacle course. Perfect for an adrenaline rush and you can gather your certificates together at the end to prove you’ve conquered the course! For more information and to find your local Go Ape, visit the Go Ape website.
Cycling
Dust off that bicycle helmet and pump up those tyres! A romantic bike ride is a great idea for active dates. And even better if you can stop at a lovely pub along the way. Check out the Wheelale website for some fab cycling routes which go past great pubs.
